Before: this porch was very wide but too narrow. Initially the clients wanted to simply deepen it the same width, resulting in a large rectangular room larger than they really needed. I had another idea, and they loved it!
Before: another view of the bowling-alley porch. I had them deepen it by 4' all the way across, then come out with a triangular section so that the porch jutted out into the beautiful wooded back yard.
After: as a reference point to compare the previous photo to this one, the deck's rail hits the porch post at the same place.
After: the clients and their pets spend a lot of time on this porch now.
There is a new cathedral ceiling over the triangular portion of the new porch's footprint.
After: as a reference point, the original screen porch corner stopped 4' in front of the new porch corner.
After: the brackets are decorative and also used on the other side of the home, at a newly enclosed lower level Workroom.
